木 Wood

The five elements — wood, fire, earth, metal and water — are not substances. They are five modes of behaviour that the chart uses to describe movement: expansion, radiance, stabilisation, refinement and flow. Each of the eight characters in a chart carries one, and the proportions they land in are the first thing any reading looks at, because a chart is rarely even.

How it sits in the cycle

Wood is produced by Water and in turn produces Fire — that is the generating cycle (생). It controls Earth and is controlled by Metal — the controlling cycle (극). Both directions matter: an element with nothing to produce backs up, and an element with nothing controlling it overruns the chart.

Excess and deficiency

A chart is read not by which elements appear but by how unevenly they land. An element well above its share behaves like a habit the person cannot switch off; one near zero behaves like a capacity they have to borrow from elsewhere. Neither is a flaw — they are descriptions of where the chart concentrates.

When it runs high

Wood runs high — you are always growing something

You start more than you finish, and you mean every start. Ambition, expansion and the urge to improve things are constant background noise for you, which is energising until three good ideas are competing for the same week.

Pruning is a Wood skill too. Choosing what not to grow this season is usually the move that unlocks the rest.

When it is missing

Wood is thin — starting is the hard part, not finishing

You may find the initial push costs you more than it seems to cost other people. Once something is underway you are fine; it is the blank page and the cold start that drag.

Borrow momentum instead of manufacturing it. Green spaces, mornings, and people who are already moving all work.

The stems that carry it

Each element has two Heavenly Stems — one yang, one yin. They share what feeds and drains them but behave differently under pressure, which is why the Day Master matters more than the element alone.

How SajuSis measures it

The element balance is computed, not estimated. After converting the birth moment to true solar time for the birth location, the engine assigns each stem and branch its element (branches carry hidden stems, so they contribute more than one), weights them by position, and returns a percentage per element. The reading then quotes the number it used for every claim it makes.

What this does not tell you

An element reading describes tendencies inside a chart, not events in a life. It does not predict health, wealth, relationships or outcomes of any kind, and nothing here should inform a medical, legal or financial decision. The element layer is also only one of several — Day Master strength, the Ten Gods and the stars all modify how any of this reads in a real chart.
