The ten Day Masters
One character in a Saju chart stands for the person. These are the ten it can be — what each means, and how the yin and yang halves of an element differ.
What a Day Master is
A Saju chart is eight characters: a stem and a branch for the year, month, day and hour of birth. The stem sitting on the day pillar is the Day Master (일간) — the character that stands for the person themselves. Everything else in the chart is read as a relationship to it: what feeds it, what drains it, what it controls, and what controls it. Change the Day Master and the same surrounding characters mean something different, which is why two people born in the same year can read as opposites.

How SajuSis derives it
The Day Master is not chosen — it falls out of the calendar. SajuSis converts the birth moment to true solar time for the birth location (Korea keeps a 135°E standard time while Seoul sits near 127°E, a gap wide enough to move the hour pillar), then reads the day pillar from the sexagenary cycle. The stem of that pillar is the Day Master. The same calculation runs for the free reading, the compatibility score and every chart quoted in the journal.
What this does not tell you
A Day Master is one character out of eight, and on its own it describes a tendency, not a person and never an outcome. It does not predict events, health, wealth or relationships, and nothing on this page should inform a medical, legal or financial decision. Strength, element balance and the surrounding stars all modify how a Day Master actually reads — which is the point of computing the whole chart rather than looking up one character.
