How this Day Master reads

You are practical, receptive and quietly generative. You take in what others bring and give back something better cultivated, which is why teams and friendships tend to organise themselves around you. You measure success by what grew, not by who noticed.

What a Day Master is

A Saju chart is eight characters: a stem and a branch for the year, month, day and hour of birth. The stem sitting on the day pillar is the Day Master (일간) — the character that stands for the person themselves. Everything else in the chart is read as a relationship to it: what feeds it, what drains it, what it controls, and what controls it. Change the Day Master and the same surrounding characters mean something different, which is why two people born in the same year can read as opposites.

Yang and yin within one element

This is the yin stem of its element — the element in its concentrated, adaptive, refined form. Yin stems tend to be read as the version that works through precision and timing rather than mass.

The other half of the pair

Each element has two stems, one yang and one yin. The partner stem here is 戊 Mu (Great Mountain). They share an element, so they share what feeds and what drains them, but they behave differently under the same pressure — comparing the two is usually more informative than reading either alone.

How SajuSis derives it

The Day Master is not chosen — it falls out of the calendar. SajuSis converts the birth moment to true solar time for the birth location (Korea keeps a 135°E standard time while Seoul sits near 127°E, a gap wide enough to move the hour pillar), then reads the day pillar from the sexagenary cycle. The stem of that pillar is the Day Master. The same calculation runs for the free reading, the compatibility score and every chart quoted in the journal.

What this does not tell you

A Day Master is one character out of eight, and on its own it describes a tendency, not a person and never an outcome. It does not predict events, health, wealth or relationships, and nothing on this page should inform a medical, legal or financial decision. Strength, element balance and the surrounding stars all modify how a Day Master actually reads — which is the point of computing the whole chart rather than looking up one character.
